We have the aging dogs too. Stuff joints, less walks, lumps and spots developing.

Still greedy buggers.

I'd forgotten the lumps - one to be removed. Still greedy ;-) Yep.

Aging but not yet old (8 years), Charlie has had a rough few months. The vet noticed a couple of sore spots on the inside of his right eyelid during a routine checkup back in March. Since then, he has become gradually worse with ulcers on both eyelids and later on his upper lip. A few weeks ago another appeared behind his front right knee.
He’s had 14 appointments with various vets at the practice over this time and has been under the care of an ophthalmologist since August. He’s now been referred to a dermatologist in Bristol but can’t be seen before mid November.
This afternoon he’s having biopsies done to rule out basal cell carcinoma.
He seems pretty depressed about the whole affair and I have to admit I’m quite down about it too. I really wish they could get to the bottom of what the cause is so they can start some effective treatment.
Apologies for the essay, just wanted to get it off my chest and I know you folk will understand and sympathise xx

We have an old.boy with lots of lumps and bumps, and now a growth under his mouth. We have had a horrid week with him - very bad d&v, didn't eat for a couple of days but started again yesterday. Still very runny no 2, with some blood yesterday morning but none in afternoon. Today he has eaten but not been to the loo and seems a bit happier. Our daily 4 miles or more of walks are not happening.

It's horrid as with his other issues I know it won't be long 😔

Oh Alice I'm so sorry to hear that Charlie's still suffering with his eyelids and now elsewhere too. It sounds utterly miserable for him. I do hope they can find a diagnosis and some sort of treatment for him. I was amazed when you said he was 8 now!

Flossie had her 11th birthday in August and there's no doubt warm weather does *not* suit her as both OH and I have noticed how much she's perked up with the change of season. She's still very happy to come for our nearly-three-mile walk every morning and tolerates OH taking her up the hill in the afternoon (she is not keen on getting too close to the cows though so will take a short cut home if they're about!) Sometimes our walk takes a while because there are fox/deer/pigs/rabbit/other dogs smells to be checked but other days we walk very briskly! Yesterday a fox had the temerity to wander onto our decking and she gave it a good old chase down to the bottom of the garden!

Oh Mandy, it's a horrible feeling isn't it. You don't want them to suffer but you don't want to lose them either. Been through it twice now and it's heartbreaking. Sending you and Marvin my love xx
