Thanks for all your support We're going for the anti-inflammatories at the moment and will reassess depending on how that goes. He's still a bit groggy but he's home Hopefully the insurers will contribute towards today's £1300 bill! |

In among everything else today was this, both sad and beautiful. There used to be a couple in the village with a small elderly dog Lottie that we'd sometimes bump into. Our Shih Tzu cross Frankie and Lottie really got on. If they saw each other from a distance they'd strain their leads to greet each other. Last year they moved to the same retirement retirement village as my mum, so we still see them occasionally. Last week we saw them and it was clear that Lottie wasn't well. When I got home today there was an envelope addressed to Frankie and a small bag of dog treats on the doorstep. The envelope contained a card with a drawing of a small dog and inside it just said "Frankie, forget me not, Lottie xx". When I spoke to my mum this evening she confirmed that Lottie had died on Tuesday. |

What a day TR I hope the anti inflammatories help and that the insurers come good too. Such a sweet gesture from Lottie's owners too.

My dog (golden retriever) is driving me mad today barking at helicopters and planes! She only does this when we're at home and is happy to bark at jets that are mere dots in the sky! We aren't too far from Birmingham and East Midlands airports, so there's plenty to keep her entertained. I have no idea why she has started doing this (protecting her patch?), but she could be up for rehoming if she doesn't pack it in soon (Not really, obvs ).

Our Tuss has osteo arthritis and hip dysplasia. He'll be on meds for the rest of his life, will need to lose weight (he's not fat) and will be on restricted exercise, again for rest of his life. Hip replacement surgery is a possibility, but for the future. He's currently away at friends. I am gutted

Oh DT Poor Tuss, and poor you. What do people consider 'too hot' to take their dogs out for a walk? I know it varies by breed and by dog but Mr Carp reckons 26 and full sun is ok and I'm not so sure. |

There is a chart somewhere that gives advice, Carp. I’ll see if I can find it.
