Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Just left Ollie at the vets for chest x-rays under general anaesthetic. For the last few days he has been rapid breathing (40+ breaths a minute) even when resting/sleeping. He had an antibiotic injection yesterday in case it was a lung infection but no impact, so investigations as to what the problem might be. Fingers crossed for manageable outcome, but at 13 years old, he's not a youngster now.

Xray and subsequent endoscopy shows something outside lung pressing on lung. Most probably either a tumour or inflammation due to a grass seed. We'll be picking him up later and having full discussion. We could go for a ct-scan which should tie it down. If a tumour then keep him comfortable, if a grass seed then chest surgery. Alternatively we treat it with anti-inflammatories, and if it is a grass seed that may reduce the swelling enough to make his breathing easier. Need to decide whether we would put him through major surgery at 13yo. If not, then no point in ct-scan either - just treat with anti-inf for as long as he is comfortable.
