Bella got her cone off today. She's spent quite a lot of time landscaping the garden and tonight destroyed her bed. Not sure if it's all related given she seemed to tolerate the cone quite well.

Arlo's been given the all clear and that he can go back to normal walks etc. Having real issues getting him back to his sleeping routine though. He just scratches at the kitchen door incessantly. We are both shattered now. Been having to put him in his crate again but even then he barks and cries for a while. Any tips? Tried ignoring the scratching but he perseveres with it. |

Sorry no advice Roberto - when Albie had a vet stay he cried (and wouldn’t stop) afterwards when I put him down in the pen for the night as I used to. He now sleeps up with me 😆🙄 Just been on holiday and Albie boarded with his dog walker. He was very good - even with the cat!! He’s totally exhausted now and just wants to sleep. |

Hi, does anyone know any reliable ways of keeping ticks away. I've a 14mnth standard poodle and ticks are becoming a mare. Up until now he's been getting spot on or frontline every 6-8wks but it's really not agreeing with him. Last time he was vomiting for 2 days after. Thinking it may have been coincidental and him maybe having eaten something revolting I treated him again Friday (8 weeks after last dose). He was visibly uncomfortable within a couple of hours. I washed it off as he seemed to be getting worse. He's still a bit unsettled and distressed. Pacing, tail low, just not his usual happy, waggy self. Each time he seems to be reacting more strongly. I'm not doing it to him again. So...any ideas? |

We give our German Shepherd, Jess, Billy No Mates once a day on her food from April Mayish to start of October. It's a herbal mix that smells like curry! Think it must be the fenugreek. It really does seem to work as she's ten now, spends a lot of time out in fields and the countryside in general and has never had ticks or fleas. Might be worth a go? theneemteam.co.uk We used to have a right picnic trying to apply Frontline or similar. |

Your poor dog, he sounds very unhappy. I love standard poodles.

We give Flossie Nexgard tablets once a month - the vet recommends them as part of her 'continuing care package' (ie keeping us on the books with direct debits spreading the cost of annual vaccinations etc). Nexgard deals with ticks and fleas, and - typical Lab - Flossie chomps down the tablet with alacrity. Might be worth a try? I hope you find something, your poor dog msut be so uncomfortable

Thank you. I considered the Nexgard but am a little wary of it. If he does react badly there's no way of eliminating it until its works its way out of his system. Billy No Mates sounds like a good option. Even if it doesn't agree with him at least it's only for a day!

Ours have Simparica. They've never had any reaction to it but of course that's no guarantee that another dog won't have a reaction.
