Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Lovely photos.

Murphy is 5 months now, and today is demonstrating just how long his legs are.

Jet retired from agility yesterday. He's enjoyed it over the years, but has lost his enthusiasm for it in the last year. Yesterday I had to bribe him to get off Mr's lap to come out with me, whereas in the past he's been up and ready to go at the first sight of his agility lead.

Jet is now well over nine years old and is on anti-inflammatories. No diagnosis but I think his back legs are stiff as he's slowed down a lot and has now started to use a step to jump up to his favourite window seat where he's currently lying in the sun watching the world go by.

He's also turned into a bit of a grump so Mr and I are working to be consistent and ensure we recognise and respond appropriately to signs of stress. Several bites and a plastic surgery op for Mr finally convinced him that trying to continue a course of action when a dog is unhappy/anxious isn't worth the consequences. Jet has always been a dog that responds to quiet voices and calm clear commands and has now made that point very clearly to Mr. They have got on *much* better since that point.

Having said that, with schools restarting this week, we know that Jet will be turning himself inside out with delight when he sees Littl'est Un (3) for the school journey. In return LU has been taught how to interact with Jet, with two key messages, "wait for him to come to you" and "when he goes into his crate it means he wants to be left alone". As a result Jet adores him :-)

Ah. Another of the original thread dogs turning nine. It's taken a while for Jet to train Mr, hasn't it ;-) but it's good that they've sorted themselves out at last.

Wanda turns 9 later this year too. She's on Yumove and although she is delighted to see all the agility equipment up in the field we go to for our classes she has very little interest in it now (apart from the dog walk which she would spend the entire time going up and over given the chance!)

Great that LU has got the idea about Jet (and probably all dogs as a result) at such a young age.

I'm impressed by LU. Squeak just can't understand when Skye wants to be left alone. Or when she goes in her "don't touch me space" (under my desk in the lounge). We'll keep working on her. Pip is pretty good though, and subsequently Skye adores him and is incredibly relaxed around him.

Kennel cough vaccine question. Arlo has to have it as goes on group walks sp had it this morning. My MiL has been having chemo (ended around 10-12 weeks ago) but had major surgery on 25th August so is currently at home recovering. They support us a lot with Arlo and were meant to have him today while I was at work as dog walker has covid so hasn't been able to walk this week and my FiL is off work so could manage him.

Vet said anyone who is severely immuno suppressed shouldn't have direct contact but like I say, he needed it. How long should I keep him away from her? The chemo has ended but obviously she is recovering from surgery currently but is a few weeks through that now as well and when I Google it, its all very different in terms of timescales and there doesn't seem to actually have been any cases and it's a theoretical link.

Gosh, I've no idea Roberto. Our vet has never said anything about keeping Floss away from anyone after her innoculation, but then, I've never asked as it's not been an issue.
