Ask the vet. There will be a short time period it applies for because I think it’s a small dose of the virus that is used to get the immunity response.

I did, but they weren't really sure as the chemo was 3 months ago. They mentioned 2 weeks but then talked about as long as its not direct face to face contact etc.

I don’t know the answer Roberto but found the following on a google search:

wormsandgermsblog.com

“ That doesn’t mean we should ignore the issue completely, since there are some things we can probably do to drop the already low risk even more. This mainly revolves around modified live Bordetella vaccination. A few simple, practical and logical measures would be:

Keep the high risk person out of the room when the animal is being vaccinated, to prevent high level exposure directly to the vaccine.
Wipe the face of the animal after vaccination to reduce the burden of the vaccine bacterium on the outside of the animal.
Avoid close contact with the animal’s face for a short period of time. Realistically, if someone is immunocompromised enough that they are concerned about vaccination of their dog, close contact with the dog’s face should be avoided at the best of times.
Encourage hand hygiene after contact with the dog. As above, that’s a good general precaution at any time, but can be emphasized during the day or two after vaccination.”

Maybe something in that is helpful?

I’m going for a meet and greet at a dog boarding place tomorrow. Hopefully will be suitable for Albie in 2 weeks when I go to France for a week.

Some of the forms are terrifying - you are liable for any damage your dog causes… 😮😬😆
To be fair he mostly chews stuff when bored so being around new people and other dogs may help 😬😬

We are so lucky that we have a lady who looks after our old boy Marvin when we go awag. He stays in her house and they love him and looked after him for 8 years or so now. We have just come back from 5 days away in the camper and we didn't take him 😔 - he would have loved the woods around where we stayed but doesn't like the upheaval now - he is 10.5 years old and suffers with his joints. Always feel guilty for leaving him behind

Ernie will be staying with my next door neighbour when I go away this coming week. That is if I get to go.

A while back Ernie injured his neck. Anti-inflammatories seemed to do the job and he’s been ok. Yesterday we were at a new beach and he was chasing the ball as usual, stuck him in the van and when I took him out a while later he was clearly in pain. Obviously his neck again. 2.5 drive back from Kinlochbervie to get to vet just before closing. He’s got more anti-inflammatories and co-codamol in case it’s really bad. X-ray under anaesthetic on Tues. Surgery was mentioned.

Just been looking at my insurance policy documents and I have a feeling they won't cover the costs of Ernie's X-rays etc. I think his previous visit for neck issues will be considered a pre-existing condition :(

A quick google would suggest that dogs are contagious with kennel cough for 10-14 days. If the kk dose that Arlo has had is made using a live virus then a couple of weeks should be enough.

Although it also suggests that dogs can have kk for up to 6 weeks if untreated, so erring on the side of caution may be appropriate.

Fingers crossed the dog is found. The link doesn’t work for me, is the post private?

Meanwhile Chester has started doing canicross. He went to an introductory session with the club last week and we went out and did a couple of miles today. I’m a bit nervous about it but he does seem to really enjoy it!
