halfpint of mulled cider
I used to regularly make liver cake but haven’t in ages. I feel a bit guilty about that. I also put garlic in. Ernie loves it, as do any dogs within a one mile radius, especially labs.

I put a bit of garlic in too - and sometimes grated ginger too.
WL - I love that you have one of those near legendary tip ships with a local butcher. (I tried but Raffo doesn’t eat meat or poultry, I don’t eat much and Jess not enough so it didn’t happen. Then the butchers closed anyway.

A butcher that I shop at far too infrequently to take advantage of leaves a big bucket of bones outside the shop and just asks any dog owner taking any to put some change in their charity tin. Thank goodness Wanda is muzzled when in town centres as she'd probably just help herself as we went past!

Arlo is absolutely fine, wobbling. Hasnt shown any issues after crunching through all the bones.
Got to have a decent chat with the vet yesterday. As he is still so puppy like, going to get to 12 months before considering castration, if its needed. If day care pushnit more, we will just take him out as his dog walker doesn't think its an issue at all so she would just take him an extra day. Also not looking at getting his glands removed as this vet gave us lots more information (whereas the last one we spoke to made out that its all straightforward and typical procedures).

That sounds sensible Roberto. My understanding was that after 12 months was best.

Its just odd, as both were from the same practice. Recommended yesterday to just put a little bit of weetabix in his food and should help with the gland issue.
I'm happy, as I've been really reluctant to get either procedure but my partner felt castration is just a standard thing that is done so I'm glad I've had some back up to wait. (Other vet said would recommend it at about 9 months but for me its just too early)

Boots’s gland issue has completely cleared up since we moved him to grain free food and top up his meals with sweet potato & butternut squash.

Castration should wait till they are fully grown. Don't forget that when the times comes there is chemical castration as a non-final alternative, I so wish I had done that for Indi.

I think I replied a page back that our working cocker was castrated at 12.5 months. In retrospect I question the need for castration at all. But that may be rose coloured specs in action.
