Oh Roberto, I’ve had that conversation too and even with it being tempered, I still felt I was being told off and Boots was a terrible dog.
The *snip* conversation may help tho, our day-care only take neutered dogs.

Yeah, the vet had suggested at 9 months to, but thats only 2 months away and im really hesitant as he still looks so puppy like and still has a lot of filling out to do. Dont want to get it done too early.
If he is to stay at day care, it has to be done by 12 months.

Well done to your son TR.
Can't help on the neutering question as our only experience was with Wanda. She was somewhere between 7 & 10 months old when she was rehomed to us (but we believe probably around 9/10 months than 7) and she was spayed just days before we got her.
We were instructed to book an appointment with our vet a few days after getting her home so they could see how she was post op.

Really excellent news TR, well done your boy!
We were told by the vet, in no uncertain terms, not to over-exercise a puppy when we got our first. It's a short-cut to all sorts of skeletal problems. Ask her, would she make a toddler run a 5k at her pace?
Son2's Collie started to assert himself at day-care and they were told he couldn't return until he'd been neutered. Luckily this all happened over the Christmas period last year so they didn't need day care for a few weeks but I can imagine it being a real inconvenience Roberto.
In Flossie news, having been making a trouble-free recovery, 'something' happened when OH was walking her yesterday and she's been pretty limpy again since He assures me she was fine on the walk and there was no obvious incident, but I think he took her too far across the fields. Maybe it's doggy DOMS

Roberto, I can't remember the exact age (it's on the early pages of this thread), but Jet, our eight and a half year old male cocker, was neutered by our vet when he reached adulthood. I think he was around a year old, maybe a bit more. I did a lot of research and there was *so* much information particularly from Australia that led me think Jet should go through puberty first.
Jet had his annual vaccinations today and a check over. He now has some anti-inflammatories as a three week trial because he's getting a bit stiff. It may also expain some of his recent grumpiness if he's been in pain. I find it hard to believe that he was a puppy when this thread started, and now he's in the last quarter of his life. Time flies...

Oh don't, Helegant, it makes me sad to think of Floss in that way too.

Same here! What happened to our puppies! Jess and Floss are only two or three months apart.
Jess is not showing any real signs of aging apart from occasionally not taking stairs and steps at warp speed as she races into the garden - or upstairs to 'her' (our) bed.

Cookie is 9 soon, Phoebe is 8 next week. Both have slowed down and chilled out. Both currently on medication for joint aches.

Ernie is not neutered. I spoke to the vet when we were having issues with him being reactive and she said it could make it worse. She suggested a behaviourist instead.
