Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Arlo got a bed this afternoon. Dont know if it was alive or not when he got it. One wing dropped off, I pulled the other out his throat. Dont know about the rest of the bird, most likely eaten.

The joys of dog ownership.

I popped to the butcher today and got about 2.5kgs of liver, plus a bag of bones for the dog. The liver has been sliced & dried in the oven, then chopped into little bits to use as training treats...they're actually quite tasty!

Sounds good WL. Liver cake makes it go even further (I bake, then freeze) Quantities don’t matter much - some flour (any sort, I’ve used rye, buckwheat and chickpea as well as plain) an egg or two, splash of Apple Cider vinegar. Stick it all in mixer. Bake til it looks like Brownies!

Dogs aren’t really that good at digesting flour* so I use less than most recipes suggest.

* Jess loves bread and will sniff out and demolish any discarded half loaf or sandwich in the street or undergrowth. Doesn’t mean it’s any good for her.

I know garlic is not good for dogs in large quantities but I also put a little garlic in my liver cake. It makes it even smellier than just the liver. I used to make it in a bun tin so I ended up with a dozen small cakes which I froze and then took one out at a time for dog class. Now I'm afraid to say I buy budget frozen chicken strips (the cooked ones) and just defrost them for class. I will try to make some liver cake for next term!

I reckon liver is cheap enough not to worry about bulking it out with stuff. In fact, this liver was free. We buy a lot of meat from our butcher. He reckoned he had too much liver & would have to chuck it anyway.

Rice flour should be more digestible for a dog, shouldn't it?
