Glad to see Polly’s brought her homework with her - great picture.
I have a chilled out Labrador at my feet, and a freaked-out whining Whippet pacing the room and scowling at the invisible thunder outside. She’s never been bothered by thunder, fireworks, etc. before - but has now decided at the age of 11 to take notice!

I have made the most of the sunshine by giving Wanda a bath! She very rarely has a bath and probably hasn't had one since last spring or early summer perhaps even longer!
She watched me take a bucket of warm water, a sponge and bottle of dog shampoo into the garden, put her tail between her legs and shot into the house and upstairs to her bed on the landing. Considerable coaxing by BaronBR and me with lots of cheese eventually got her into the garden and she then tolerated being washed. Drying is relatively easy as her coat is so short that a rub with a towel, a roll for some time on the grass followed by lying in the sunshine for a bit and she's dry (with a further roll on the living room carpet just to be sure!)
If she happens to find something smelly to roll in on her evening walk tonight I will be most displeased!

I never bath Flossie. She does have to be washed down when she's rolled in fox poo but other wise we've never bothered with any of our Labs.

Given that we are used to what Wanda smells like, when it gets to the stage that neither of us can bear the smell any more she gets a bath!

We bathed Ernie quite regularly when we first got him then realised it was a pointless exercise. When your dog has a love of the beach and will happily wallow in a bog you learn to live with it.
We're just back from a cycle. Only his second ever. He loved it. We ventured down a little narrow trail which was a first. He was mostly very good. Still need to work on some commands because 'Bloody hell this is not the time to stop and sniff' as I slam the brakes on was ineffective. Go, go, go was better though and he got to the point where he'd check where I was as he stopped to sniff and keep going if I was close behind or yelling.

Lovely puppy
If Wanda "...happens to find something smelly to roll in on her evening walk tonight..." I, for one, won't be at all surprised

She is...I think son2 and GF are quite besotted given all the photos and little videos they are sending us! What's lovely is that she seems as besotted with Cooper, and he is being very sweet (though occasionally retreating to his favourite window seat which she cannot yet reach ).

Had to share this. Ellen spotted the perfect new bed for Poppy (not that she needs one!):
