I really didn't like the whisky one. I was so disappointed. I didn't like *him* as much as I thought I would, and the writing was a bit pedestrian.

Yeah I got half way through the whisky one and lost interest, was thinking of trying it again, but I've always liked travelogues and if I didn't like it then, I doubt much will have changed now.

Wasp Factory
Downhill from there.
Complicity pretty good.
Downhill again. Crow Road, Espedair street average.
Culture Series was tripe.

I enjoyed The Wasp Factory, but at the end I thought, "My English teacher would have failed me for something so crass." It meant that when Joanne Harris used the same plot twist in Gentlemen and Players I was on to it in a flash and struggled to be bothered reading the rest of the book.

The Business was the first one I read. I've got Whit and Wasp Factory by my bed looking at me.

I'm still re-reading the Culture novels, got Inversions for my birthday as my next read.
Maybe I'll pass on the whisky book!

Too Much Water
Couldn’t get on at all with the M books, as wrong genre for me although I appreciated the reference to The Waste Land with the title of Consider Phlebas.
Of the non M I enjoyed The Business, Crow Road, Complicity and the Wasp Factory. I’ve tried to read the rest but they didn’t work for me. Perhaps they were too allegorical.
