I suppose it is urban here, but there is a damn great river in the middle and loads of green space, including college land that is difficult to access.

I'm in the city centre and have no problem staying within my square. In fact, I'm enjoying runs longer than 10 miles because of this game. Running convoluted routes around the city while constantly thinking of where to go next is the reason I'm enjoying my running so much. Although, there are some areas I'd rather avoid!

I see this game as a cousin of Conquercise (which is excellent too btw) and complements it, so variable sized squares doesn't appeal to me.
Long runs where you've never been before? Ticking off conquercise squares.
Short or convoluted runs in your local area? WSW.

I agree roberton.
I think the game works well. It is about personal battles and scores. I will never be top as I don’t ride a bike. However I have access to all 225 squares so will do ok some weeks. Win some, lose some...

But you don’t run much? It is the duatheletes who can dominate. Geographic spread plus racking up the 6 pointers close to home

I think you owe me one for wearing out ferret last week Mrs Jigs!
I am still having fun trying to work out how many squares I can actually access in my rural area without abusing my Scottish 'right to roam', squashing anyone's barley crop or trespassing on the railway. One or two fallow fields still need investigating but I think I now know all the local paths. It would be easier in a city but less peaceful and scenic.

I don't cycle and win regularly enough...run far and wide within your bounds.
