I don't know what constitutes a long run, but I find it hard to capture even a third of my square running 7 to 8 miles a day.

One move a week is plenty for me personally but there have been calls from some for more. My idea is just a suggestion about how that could be accommodated without it being a complete free for all.

I think variable squares would bugger the game up. Running strange routes is what it’s all about (along with rescuing neglected bikes)

if you scaled the square sizes to overall length then you could walk backwards and forwards over a tiny area, log a very small distance and easily cover every square.
(mowing the lawn would fulfil this nicely)

Yes, minimum size default as per the current size. Even though my longest runs are about six miles, I find it very difficult to stay inside my square without running impractical routes. The point of my runs are running, the game is secondary. It must be much worse for those who go long.

Must vary with location Diogenes - personally, I have no trouble at all finding an interesting and varied 6-8 miler almost entirely within the square but can see that somebody living in an urban environment may need to get lost in an endless maze of cul-de-sacs which wouldn't be much fun.

It would be nice to take breaks for injuries, vacations, etc. I'm too competitive so having this encourages me to take "just a short run" when I really should know better. But this may be particular to me having no self-discipline.

I thought it would be easier in an urban environment, I live in a semi-rural area where it is difficult to join up the various areas without retracing one's tracks or crossing private land or getting stuck pathless woodlands.
