It's a means of showing a zero point lead for either of you while still differentiating from the squares that neither of you have visited. Should you wish to have your mind bent completely - have a look at Daddy Shark's post from page 1707 in the 'Most pinned' list - where he muses at length on the 'meaning of cake'
