Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

McGoo ha done 10k crosstraining. I wonder what it was. Skiing? Skateboarding? Dogsledding? (Or maybe Garmin was on the wrong setting and those points are about to double.

Oh, it should say 'walking'. My Garmin has Cycling, Run - outdoor, Run -indoor and Other. So I have to log walks as 'Other' then change em when I get back.

Amusingly, Liebling who has just started WSW went out with her watch and when she got back realised it had been set to Running-indoors so it switched the GPS off and she didn't get any squares!

I've a Garmin 235 but the "up" button is broken. So I can't change the training type on my watch. Everything gets logged as a Run and then changed when it's uploaded.

So apologises if anyone happens to catch sight of 2pt/square run from me (when I've actually done a bike ride or walk) and then sees it go down to a 1pt/square activity.

There's potentially a problem for you there, I think.

You log a Run as Run and get two points for a square
You go out and cycle over the same square with Garmin set to Run
You come home, load it up and change the type to Bike

... and don't get the point for the square because the underlying GPX data still says it's a run.

I do the same as Roberton. It’s not been a problem whilst I’ve been logging one piece of exercise a day. I don’t think it was a problem before lockdown either?

I’m having a great match against ferret this week. We seem to be evenly matched and so far it’s been nip and tuck all the way!

I think it depends on the type of watch you use and how it stores/transfers the data. I had some that didn't show up, so I had to go into Garmin Connect, change the type in there and re-upload.

Roberton, if you scroll down long enough, will it not eventually roll back to where you need to be?

I just start my watch and go, my garmin seems almost always to work it out as run, cycle or walk.

Automatically? Based on pace?

That'd be embarrassing for me: it'd call my bike rides as runs and my runs as walks!
