Thanks to the Grammar thread I've learnt that the phrase "...then you've got another thing coming" is actually "think", not "thing", which makes sense.

It was always “thing” for me too and as mentioned often follow by a clip round the ear!!

There's a peak in the Brecons called Fan-Y-Big and it's not terribly far from a suburb or Merthyr called Pen-y-Darren. So that's a ready made trip out for me!
