#13 only wear gaitors if you are used to them, I wore them about 4 years agao and thought they were a waste of time. if my trainers were supposed to have bits that restrict then i would have bought trainers with them attached. what work for one person doesnt work for all.
#1b sleep as much as you can for the days leading up to the race. sleep depravation does effect you until about 48 to 60 hours after you dont get a good sleep. you are going to be awake from friday morning til Saturday night at the least so unless you are used to that the best thing you can do is sleep LOTS for the days before.
#Various.b pack some anti-diarrhea tables you me wish you had them later in the race.

#14 read my blog from two years ago ultramiker.blogspot.co.uk

#15 if you've got a problem with your feet, don't think "I'll sort it at next CP" stop right there and do it it may just prevent problems further down line when you *really* need your feet

I stop right away all time now, I was out for training run with Ian one day and I remember saying my shoes was rubbing and I'd stop at rowardennan and fix it, he said why wait, stop now!

fair point.

I've never tried gaiters. Kinda wish I had because I do get stones and sand/gravel in shoes. As Mike says, I'm wary of introducing them at this late stage though. Mind, I had lots of stones in shoes at Glenmore 24 and while feet were mashed at end, they weren't the limiting factor.

Getting very real now. :-) G

I'm planning on doing 1.5 or 2 hours midnight run tomorrow night.

a. make sure head torch still working!
b. see how running at stupid o'clock feels.

I've only done it once, in G24, and I was pretty unhappy from 8pm to 6am in the dark. To be honest, not sure that just 1.5-2 hours is going to tell me much, but it's something a bit different anyway to play with during taper time! slowdownyoumovetoofast tapir madness! :-) G

Great tips M1inty, some gems in there I would never think of but I suppose most runners in a 10+ hour race have to deal with and have experience of, I don't. I have, however, actually copied them out of fetch and into a 'file' :)
