Oh lord, if he is, God only knows what time he'll be targeting this year!

I like 3 targets for this race and have the same again for this year. Finish, sub 30, pb. Happy with anything this year and keep smiling when I think about the tough sections :). I usually tell myself in the head that i'll have 3 tough sections too and I usually have.

I've come to a decision tonight - I'm not going to run Strathearn Marathon on Sunday. I would love to do it and have a fun day out with friends but it's taper time and I know it would affect me. 26.2 miles on the road would not be wise. I said to wkp tonight that it would be best to save my energy for whw and hope I don't take as long as last year so she can get to bed earlier!

HappyG - where did you get those random times from? 22:18, 22:59, 23:10, 23:59, 24:59, 25:09??? I'd love to hear the logic behind 22:18 rather than 22:19!
As for me, well I thought of a time and told MikeR; he said I was having a laugh and told me another time instead. He sounded quite firm so I'm not going to argue with him!

I'm wrapping myself in bubble wrap between now and then, although MrsS has recruited some good support for this year so I'm not very crucial!

Lol, not sure my crew are singers. Can I borrow wkp please, mrs s?!
I guess everyone has a different approach to goals and targets. I'm quite OCD, so I like a target to aim for and find it helps to motivate and drive me. That is not the case for everyone - some folk find it unnecessary pressure and that it detracts from the enjoyment. As to what the goal is - again, I would think that was pretty individual too - depends on your speed, your training, your experience etc. So I've explained some of how I got to my gold time in my post before.
Why have so many "fall back" goals? Well, my logic is that if I'm not on for my gold, then rather than dropping my head and just trudging along, I'd like to push myself to the next goal, and if that's missed, then the next and so on. Again, wouldn't suit everyone, I understand.
It's all part of the fun!
And my threatening cold has abated and come to nothing. Yippee! (Unfortunately, working in an office with aircon and in close proximity to others right up until Thu 18 means I am probably at risk, but will do my best to dodge any coughers!) G
