Like someone has been sick all over the front page an amateurish attempt at a website.

6 different coloured fonts of all sizes make a very unpleasant view.

You have been vague on your time prediction G, come on what's the best result possible you reckon you can achieve?

21:55 is my gold. I'm aware that many things could go wrong and I have silver, bronze lower goals. Actually I've got crystal, pewter, wood, cotton, card board and toilet paper level goals too, all of which I'd be happy with. Well, most! ;-) )

Thereafter: 22:18, 22:59, 23:10, 23:59, 24:59, 25:09, finish.

A club mate said to me recently, we're expecting way quicker than that from you. I think this is very sweet and kind, but both unrealistic and a bit unfair.

Sure, I can do a 5K quicker than her and possibly more quickly than some of the folk targeting 20 hours or quicker. But it's not a 5K! It's 155K. The only 5K about it is the nearly 5,000m of climb!! For a fast time over that you need (imho):

* great endurance
* strength and resilience
* strong and fast walking ability
* good hill strength

I think with a couple years more experience, more miles in the legs, more hill strength, more hill walking training, I could potentially be able to target a quicker time. But not this year, not with this level of training, not with the limited experience that I have.

And unless I take over 30 hrs, I'm not doing it again, so this year's time will be my time. And that's fine.

Next year, I'd like to improve my half marathon time. New season, new goals! :-) G

"Not doing it again". We all say that in the beginning :-) All good logic in your explanation HappyG - rooting for you to achieve a happy outcome.

Love the Toilet Paper target. That may come true in other ways than expected.

I know nothing, however my advice would be to have only two goals; a time goal ('realistic' but suitably challenging) and get round goal.

Having multiple goals, can result in dropping from one to the next to the next.

I agree with both M1nty and FR. Can't understand multiple goals. On my first time I just wanted a goblet. Ditto second time. And this time. For me it's all about enjoying the race. I'm giving myself a tough target as something to aim for

Loving all the stretching targets - Mrs Shanksi, Santababy and HappyG. I have two plans - with both being quite pedestrian up to Tyndrum. Then one assumes little energy left (30 hours) and the other gets all speedy at that point and zooms off towards 27 something. So that's an Andrex soft and smooth toilet tissue target and a greaseproof paper roll target.

I have 2 plans, 22 hrs or finish in whatever time I can get after that. That's it

Does anyone think Paul Giblin will toe the start line this year?
