I might chip off at some point during the day though as I expect to have two tickets for the grandstand on the mall.

Last year I remember having really sore arms the next day and not knowing why, until I realised it was from leaning on the barriers all day! The sore throat was more obvious to work out

Some fetchies are here to support specific people. They'll start to filter away once their runner is through. The rest of us will stick around until the flood slows to a trickle; at which point some of the folks who have been there since dawn will start to head off. We will always make sure that there are enough people there until every one of our runners has been accounted for.
