Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

I tried the Inov-8's on the SDW100 at the weekend. They are held on by a rubber band that goes under the shoe. Both bands broke by 70 miles. I had similar issues with The Dirty Girl Velcro coming off the shoe when peeling the gaitors off so both aren't perfect.

I've used he inov-8 ones without problem, but there again the bands are under the heel and i tend to land forward of them. I didn't wear them for lakeland (or any summer ultra) as they make my feet too hot. They are great for keeping out snow and icy water in the winter though.

The race ultra gaiters actually clip onto the side of the shoe. I'm hoping they start to put the 'pockets' on all their shoes...

The SDW has a fair bit of chalk with flints so maybe that was the problem?

I love my Dirty Girls. Never had the Velcro come off during a run or race and, if it comes off occasionally post run I can live with that. Extra velcro is available very cheaply.

I also like the designs. I admit I'm shallow :-)

The velcro has come off every time I've worn them; used all of the velcro supplied and more. Never lasted an entire ultra. But I've never kept my feet dry for an entire ultra either.

Re. the Inov-8 gaiters, I think the reason 't missus hasn't had problems with them is that she doesn't often wear them for ultras, more with her fell shoes. Obviously, the bands sit between the studs and don't break.

My Dirty Girl gaiters are very boring. Plain black.
