KinkyS has the Halo, I have a Montane Featherlight (well, actually 2, as the spare was an ebay bargain!). Both are excellent.

The Featherlight is probably 15+ years old and still going (with a couple of duct tape repairs to bramble rips). Got to be the best value bit of kit I've ever owned. However I'd consider the Alpkit if looking at a new one. (and I might look at the gilet anyway...)

I’ve never got over the loss of my old Buffalo wind shirt. It dropped to bits; I think from light damage to the nylon

Same here, got a grey half zip one around 2007 still use it loads.

I also have an omm primaloft gilet and a very light Adidas cycling gilet which are both good just to give some shelter from the wind, with warmth from the former too which has got me out of possible getting too cold pickles on more than one occasion.

I gave the Arro gilet another good test today, a trek round the Howgills in some pretty nippy weather. Really impressed, keeps your core warm enough and stops you from getting too sweaty. Had a heavyweight Helly Challenger on and a merino buff at the neck, no problems and temp was around freezing with a good windchill factor.

rhb, I concur...I have an olive green half zip somewhere. It's served well since 2003 or so, but I need to find it. Last time I saw it was last year (doh).

Mmmm how small does the gilet fold up? That’s what I was tempted into for eh yet long training runs I figured that plus a rain coat would /should(?) be enough to keep me warm and dry I like the idea my arms stay cool.
