I have the Alpkit one and the Patagonia Houdini....both good but the Patagonia is a better fit, but bloody expensive for a wind top.

Buy bright :-) Handy for being seen on hills or roads

Frag - this time last year I found a half-zip top on the sale rail in George Fisher's. It had a lightly padded windproof body with thin stretchy microfleece sleeves. It weighed next to nothing.
It was still expensive even at the sale price but if it hadn't have been so pink I would have bought it.

I can't remember the make and I've been looking for something similar ever since :(

Fragile Glass Bauble
Colours other than pink do seem to sell out first, I do wonder why manufacturers seem to like the colour so much.

FGB Alpkit have a windproof (not in pink!) called the Arro that is worth a look and as usual with Alpkit is not a silly price. But as with all Alpkit stuff you won't find it anywhere except by going direct to their website (or shop).

Frag - the OMM is fantastic, much less 'boil in the bag' than the inov8's windproof jackets despite being waterproof. I am a size 6 and have the xs which is perfect. If I find another one in the sale (I paid about £60 for mine) I will buy it as a spare without hesitation. I ran in it today (feels like temperature of 3C and wet) and was perfectly comfortable with just a long sleeved merino base layer under it. It is small enough to stuff in the pocket of my Asics fuji trail shorts or in the back of the waistband of a pair of capris if I no longer need it on a run (I don't like tying things round my waist).

Seeing as FF has mentioned it, the Arro is definitely worth a look. I've been promising myself a decent windproof gilet for ages and recently I cracked and bought the Arro. Like all Alpkit stuff it's really well made and totally functional. Was wearing it only yesterday, great bit of kit.

LMH, you are really selling it to me but I think the largest size might be smaller than I would like - I’m just at the top end of the size range for the XL and I’m concerned it wouldn’t leave any room for layers under it.

My Omm Halo is a man's one that I bought for youngest - and then nicked for my use. sleeves are a little long, but much better bum coverage than a ladies would be
