Mmmm. That's several minutes of my life I won't get back, I wish I had spent it more productively that reading that. Environmental concerns are justified of course, but that just came across as petulant and bitchy.

A long post to say what could have been said in four succinct paragraphs. In fairness she’s spot on re recycling clothes etc

Thanks for sharing @Corrah! Very thought provoking. The only thing I’m struggling with not buying are shoes. Mine are dead after 4-500 miles. Yes, manufacturers should make them last longer, but they don’t at the moment. If I don’t buy new ones I end up injured. Been there too many times before!

Mine can “last” between 400 and nearly 2000 miles. Though at the upper end last is a very different definition.

I kind of agree with the point of her blog. Though ultimately isn’t this just all about how much we choose to buy rather than need to buy. Though I guess being an ambassador kind of promotes buying more than we need. Plus I’ve never flown to Lanzarote as recovery from a race. It’s not normally much more than falling asleep in the bath. |

It must be nice to be able to turn on the company people throwing free kit at you once they've given you enough to last a lifetime. She makes some good points but the whole post feels rather disingenuous. But I've always found her irksome, so maybe it's just me. Personally, and I expect many of us, it's more about how much longer can I make that pair of shorts with the hole in last as I can't afford to replace them. The only thing to get purchased semi-regularly are shoes, and that's because the last pair have fallen apart after a couple of hundred miles again (where I do agree with her Inov-8 assessment!) |

I kind of understand her overall point, we should buy what we need, wear to destruction, etc. I don't remember the last time I bought a new running t-shirt, I have so many and most of them are race ones... The biggest issue I see is how easy are the technical fabrics to recycle? I know that some clothing that is beyond wearable can be made into new fabrics, or turned into things like stuffing for furniture, but is that possible with an unlabeled synthetic?
