Lindley runs TR250 as part of challenge Running now, not on behalf of the TRA.
If you volunteer you get 1 point per 2 hours worked, and points can be traded against entry to other events. 8 hours of volunteering (in total, not in one go or even one event) gets you entry to the Stort30 for instance. For a free entry into the Monarchs way you would have to put in 300 hours of volunteering...
As a runner you also get discount on entry if you bring along a volunteer.

I've volunteered at GUCR and at Legends events. Free hoodies, free food, and in the case of GUCR they will even cover travel / accommodation costs.

Still got my GUCR hi vis in the car! I think I last volunteered when Dick was running it, he covered my fuel and petrol.

I've volunteered at several local events and felt as if I'd have more than earned my "free" entry to another event if that was my motivation.

I wouldn't lump what Lindley does in with anything big and commercial :)

He was one of the early posters on this thread and I think he still has an account on here, but not seen for a few years.

I don't think I'll be back south in time to help, - points for a free Stort 30 entry would have been a bonus reward for a day helping out :)
