Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

oumaumau - for the first 18 laps I was hitting fairly consistently between 33 and 36 minutes per lap, but then the heat hit (was 2pm starting the 19th lap) and I dropped down to 42 to 45 minutes per lap. Enough time to try and get cool again. The last lap, starting at 11pm, I was able to get around in sub-40 again, feeling really good considering! I, very briefly, considered going out for another one...
Not so many power naps, a few minutes between laps on the last couple, but nowhere near enough...

How I spent a lot of the time between laps in the afternoon...

Great news for Slow Duck, shame about your friend NDWDave, must be heartbreaking to come so close!

NDWDave - tough. I hope it wasn`t injury that made it a DNF

I always think of what I once heard Lindsey Parry say about Comrades - you have only bought 12 hrs of Comrades time so use it wisely.

Interesting what they say about the Golden hour when there is a firm cut-off.

Does anyone listen to Science of Ultra podcasts?
It's my new favourite to listen to while running and today, oh my god, I was totally blown away by episode 15. I'd never heard of William Sichel before, but he has to be the grandfather of ultra runners

Mr. K - she was close to cutoffs the entire race. Just not quite fast enough. She didn’t get a buckle but she did get a Western States bottle opener - probably more useful

Used to listen to Science of Ultras but then it got a bit tedious. Should probably give it a go again at some point.

William Sichel's story, and some of the daft things he's done, is amazing.
