I’ve signed up for my first ultra I’m doing The Princess Challenge!! Thought it would be a nice gentle one to ease myself into (gentle by the generous cut off) I did look at Jedburgh three peaks but my cousin is getting married that day and for some reason wasn’t to up for changing their date path! Downside is it’s a matter of a few weeks away and I’ve not done much since wk Deere as I was so exhausted following my attempt at 3 marathons in 3 months. But I figure once I’m out I have to get back and I should manage it in the time allowed. I’m aiming to do a lot of back to back sessions as I’m going to struggle to get too many long runs in and pray for a tailwind! Any other tips would be greatly received. |

Will be interesting to see how he holds up over the laps. See Macca is also going for it, hope it goes well. |

GG, if you only have a few weeks til race day, I'd favour one or two long days instead of back to backs, if you can make that happen - just straight forward time on your feet, 4-6 hours, but not caring about pace/distance. This would let you practise eating a few different things to see how they work for you, without as much risk of injuring yourself before the big day. Your marathon fitness will still be with you ![]() |

It's very early doors at the WW100, it's a seriously hard course esp. for the south of England. I'll be tuning into the tracker later this afternoon/evening to see how it's going. Best of luck all ![]() |

If it's as hot there as it is here, I can see that rapidly increasing....

Wow that is some running I’ve just done 5.5m and I’m hot and bothered. Thanks for the advice I will endeavour to get at least 2 long runs in I doubt I can make many more with already having 2 short races on next week and one weekend away where I’ll get no running in. The other 2 weekends I should be able to do something. Why do I do these things to myself 😫 |

It's that type 2 fun GG... ![]() Now circa 10% dnf, and the back of the field is just getting lapped by the leading ladies... that's got to be tough to deal with mentally (not 'cos they are ladies - just to straighten that out), knowing it'll happen again (and possibly again) before the end. Wonder what effect the 50k runners will have on the back markers once they start charging around later tonight... |
