Oumaumau - Ask me again in a few weeks once I have tried one for real! During the day if it is hot I shall def be going for the slow and steady method

oumaumau never done one, but I think I'd go for the slow and steady approach too, leaving a couple of minutes at the end of each lap for loo stops, grabbing food, etc and then eating on the move. That way it'll keep effort levels low which should help endurance. The other approach would make it more like a long interval session, which I think is far less efficient.

The one I am doing is (unofficially) 6.4km / 4 miles per lap / hour. Talking to a guy who has done it before he reckons so long as you run the couple of downhills you can pretty much walk the rest and be round in 50-55minutes, but that doesn't give a lot of time to refuel / change clothes etc where needed.

My plan is very much weather dependent. I did a 12-loop version last weekend and at the hottest it hit about 30c. I needed a bit of time to get out of the sun and cool down / drink / eat each lap.

Sam, I think yours is the weekend after mine.... :)

Similar format I think though, 4 ish mile loop every hour on the hour. I was pondering whether to throw in a faster lap every 4-6 for toilet stops/change clothes/eat something more substantial/just to change things up a bit, but otherwise slow and steady.

Flanker - come and give it a go, it's only 20 quid, but you do have to get yourself to Guernsey ;)

20 quid for the race, several hundred for the logistics!

Saw that, looks like the runner who was in third dropped out at 91 miles, gutting. But well done RunHammyRun on a second 100 podium after winning TP100 last month!

As soon as I post that, all the notifications come through having lost all my SDW Conquercise zones to RunHammyRun! How rude! ;-)
