More marketing than substance despite the weak evidence for curcumin being anti-inflammatory in large doses, but if people want to take pills for their aches and pains I'd rather they take harmless snake oil than nag their GPs into prescribing stuff that is unlikely to be significantly more effective but can have unpleasant side effects.

My old tennis coach recommended turmeric tablets to help with my tennis elbow. I took them, and a shagload of ibuprofen, and a whole bunch of physio, and worked with a different coach to re-model my backhand.
The problem (mostly) went away. I doubt that the turmeric was a major contributor to the resolution, but I very much doubt it did any harm either.

We buy turmeric in big bags from Shans, the South Asian supermarket in Keighley. I made a batch of golden paste up earlier in the week and will post the recipe later

A friend gives a paste made with Turmeric (and maybe other stuff I don't know) to her ancient horse and as a result the horse seems to move better than others I have seen of a similar age. It still has some joint issues though so it may be 'helping' but it certainly isn't 'curing'

I use loads of black pepper and turmeric cos I like them both and they work well with other fab ingredients. Interesting, tasty food goes a long way to fuel and keep me healthy.

I regularly make golden milk from milk, turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, coconut oil and black pepper. This is to proactively help my body recover after training and general use in my active jobs.
I cook with fresh and powder nearly every day too.
The Pukka brand capsules have been recommended by several local natural nutritionists local to me as a good grade if someone needs purposeful supplementation.

I bought some tablets a while back and I'm working my way through them now. Apart from my poo being a more orangy brown colour these days I can't say I've noticed anything else. Doubt I'll be buying any more.

I'm with Sharkie on the interesting, tasty food and I too love turmeric and black pepper.
Lowering acidity in diet should help with inflammation too. Taking a holistic approach I believe is important.

I'm on long term medication one of the side effects of which is joint pain. My Oncologist Professor Thomas at Bedford Hospital has recommended a supplement Pomi-T which contains Broccoli, Turmeric, Pomegranate and green tea. He has done research on it so I think there are proper scientific papers out there to read (but I'm at work and shouldn't really be on Fetch or Google!!) Snake oil or not, I think it helps

Turmeric can also function as a salt replacement too, I have it on scrambled eggs. The bio fermented version (available Holland & Barrett) is meant to be better absorbed in the gut.
