Thing is Rach - there are A LOT of fast kids at Croydon track that ONLY specialise in 100m and 200m - but ask them to run for longer than 400m and they won't be able to do it.

So really we all stand a better chance at the longer track distances...problem is I am rubbish at anything longer than 400m...

I think having outright speed in shorter reps would give me more confidence. The kids at the club definitely train for shorter distances (the sprinters are coached by gobi) but as you can go faster over long distances you kind of expect to go faster over shorter ones (which obviously doesn't hold true).

And with regard to standing a better chance over longer track distances - I'd better not say how fast Gobi bangs out his 100/200m reps :-O

And that's b*llocks about being rubbish at anything longer then 400m. Look at your 2 mile result from Monday!

Hahaha - well I think Monday was a fluke - or they must have shorten the course! I would like to try and go a bit quick next week - try to hold onto the 7:30mm for a bit longer then just the first mile.

Go on - tell me how quickly does he do 100m in then? Oh and 200m?

To be honest I wouldnt mind getting some coaching/practice on starting etc over 100 and 200m. But after tonight I think I may have used up my evening passes for this week.

Steve, Why don't you fmail Gobi? He coaches sprinters in our club and is good for advice on all things sprinting (and plyometric type stuff).

Booboo, I'll let him tell you. And I'm sure it wasn't a fluke! You're quite capable of running the time you did over two miles. When's the next one? Maybe I'll come down and run it. It's only over the river from work.

Steve - it will be great if Alan does these on alternate Thursday, so you could use your pass on the next one maybe??

I am going to have a go at plyometric 'stuff' on Friday - I call it stuff, cos I have absolutely no idea what I am letting myself in for!!

Rach - the next 2 miler is on Monday...£3.50...Please say you'll come and beat the lady that always comes first?? (I would cheer for you - but I will be quite a way behind you!! haha)

Well I have decided to get a personal trainer at work to whip me into better shape for Berlin - and she was the one who suggested I do some of this plyometric 'stuff' - without me prompting her....First session is this Friday, so I will let you know what we get up too!
