It does also seem to be relatively expensive there. Maybe the Trotters research barometer of ‘how much is a pint of beer?’ put a few off :) I think I said previously but we’ve sorted our accommodation in the city centre. Trotters are trying to find somewhere cheap, out of town, but are struggling with that I think. I’m wondering if I’ll see much of them over there if I’m not in the same hotel, other than possibly a meal or two. I have to say, after Saturday went so well I was looking very briefly at Barnstaple, but decided against as doing it would interrupt my training and also we are hoping to go away in the van that weekend.

Forgot to say. 5 miles really easy today. It’s nice weather although waves a bit choppy in the high tide, compared to recent times where it’s often been like a millpond.

Big G - well Denmark is not a place you can go to and expect cheap. I forgot the old school Trotters crowd, more interest in the beer. 😉

I remember years ago a RW forumite saying how he'd managed to get a reasonably priced room in Copenhagen and when he got there it was the size of a cupboard, I think one of the first places to have these hotel pods/capsules. There was another forumite that changed his cash to euros at his departing airport only to find that the currency of Denmark wasn't euros, and then paid to transfer his euros to krone.

Don't think Barnstaple do transfers, if so you could have had my place. But maybe worth the caution as you really want NYC to go well.

Big G - I have Great Welsh marathon booked for next March, but nothing else yet, but will try to run a 10k/HM in the run up to that. Then I'll probably go for an ultra later in the year.
Ian - Did notice the Boston times, but agree that London is more difficult to get into!

Easy 3 miles this morning.

Just booked my flu and Covid jabs for 5th October.

Went shopping, bought some more Covid tests, just in case!. Then when I got home I decided to test myself, thinking I was wasting the cost of the test on a bad cold.

😭 no wonder I've felt so poorly.

WP - well done on your new PB lift.😀

I didn't think it was possible to contract it so soon but I did check on the Internet and not unusual. I wonder if it's 2 different strains as I've been much more poorly this time round and with different symptoms.

I don't think I'll be running tomorrow. The walk down town was enough for me physically today.

It has to be two different strains as I don't think you were that ill the first time?

Now this bout sounds like the bout I had.I walked a mile and needed to sit down as so wiped out. How is RHR?

I really hope you are well for Dublin!

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
