Ian You are doing what is needed until you get more tests, information etc.In the circumstances 2.4 miles is great :-)

I think not having seen the race Jakob needs to respect the distance a bit more.

I think Ingebrigtsen did exactly what he planned. Or at least one of his plans. He set a new Norwegian record for 10k, they were saying before the start that 10k records would be ratified.

I think he couldn't find transport to the finish as he's in the results at 63 minutes, not sure if that's correct.

It was really well filmed, the leaders were flying, 58 minutes, very fast. Looks a lovely city and a nice course.

WP - that's not good about your achilles, all that walking yesterday. Are you keeping it taped ?

Big G - good recovery, shows you've been training well. I agree no advantage to running a half and stick with your planned training, it's doing well for you.

Ian - sorry your run didn't go well. Maybe just stick to walking until the headaches have gone and you've had a chat with your doctor. You don't need the stress of wondering if it's OK to run.

Shades Yes still taping the Achilles with my run around ten miles in total but Achilles does not like me on my feet all the time. When I got off bus I was limping until I walked for half a mile or more then it started to settle again but sore.

Shades-Yes he ran the rest and finished.
Doing research and it's expected for the pressure to go up when running,it says it's hoydl go back to normal a couple of hours after and mine did and infact is now the lowest since I've been checking so looking good.

Ian - some talent when you can set a national record, then stop and walk a bit and then run not too fast and still finish in 63 minutes.

Can't wait until he has a go at the marathon, although he'll need to get the half mastered first...probably on his next outing.

Yes, exercising does put BP up and then it should drop fairly quickly after. It's the feeling of your head that you need to resolve, even if it may have been psychological today.

I was hoping to get out for a little plod this morning, I even put my shoes out in the hall in anticipation. But RHR still raised +3. Not so bothered about that, but my head is still full of cold. I did have a better night's sleep though.

Hopefully tomorrow, I'll leave the shoes out in the hall in readiness.

That sounds like you are almost ready to run with leaving shoes in place for tomorrow. When did the cold start?

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
