Still testing positive after over a week now, and some mild shortness of breath. Not holding out a lot of hope of being negative but Sunday now so just trying to decide what we do about the vacation.

Fingers crossed for you, Sam. There’s still time to get a negative test though. Do you have to give notice to cancel hotels etc, or can you leave it until the last day or two?

Flights we can change up until the day before I think, but the hotel is a lost cause... Booked it through booking.com only a couple of weeks ago and went with the cheaper "non refundable" option, as we were fairly certain we should be travelling, slim chance it might be covered by the travel insurance, but I doubt it.

Still time yet, I hope I am just being pessimistic (it's my normal state), but we are thinking about some alternatives just in case...

I’ve heard that using an alcohol-based mouthwash and a saline wash in your nostrils beforehand can produce a negative. I make no comment on this whatsoever.

Conversely wasn’t it citrus fruits that folk used in the early days to get a false positive and a few days off school…..
