Windsor Wool
I went up (down to actually!) the Nab in October last year. I looked in to it and there is basically no access from Martindale at any time as far as I could tell. That might not be 100% right, I think you can enquire somehow and might be given access.

So, I went down from Rest Dodd on a pretty much out and back. The swamp on the top was horrendous but experts here have told me that it’s nothing as bad as the Armboth area. I read some bits online that you also had to ask for access from that direction but plenty others said don’t worry. I didn’t and there was no bother. The deer were very noisy and when I came back to Windsor the red deer here in the Park were busy rutting. I got the impression that the deer roam all over the valley and that the few humans going round and about and going to cause any probs. Lovely top once you’re on it too 😀

Thanks Windsor Wool will bear in mind for the future. Have done Rest Dodd in the past, but didn't fancy going across to The Nab with a dog.

Maybe now is the time to bite the bullet

Here's how to (legally) get access to The Nab from Martindale. You can bag Beda Fell first before skirting around the periphery of the access land, or simply climb up on the path that takes you up to Boredale Hause and then hang a left when clear of that little enclosed piece of private land. You'll note from the traces below that on one occasion I didn't follow my own advice and blatantly trespassed, that's the blue trace.

I always knew our goddaughter’s brother was a bit mad, but his latest fundraising challenge is insane.

Over 48 hours in June he intends to swim the 10.5 mile length of Windermere, cycle the Fred Whitton route and then run a Bob Graham Round.
If anyone can do it he can - he’s done many an ultra and quite a few iron distance tri’s, but this is a whole different level.
We’ll probably be up in the Lakes in June to help support.

Got out on a cold and windy Sunday morning from Mardale Head car park. We're not ready for the high fells at the moment, so contented ourselves with Branstree and Selside Pike.
Slow grind up Gatesgarth Pass, over the tops and down via Selside End and the Old Corpse Road. Then back along the lakeside path.
2 new Wainwrights for us, so on to 121. Maybe we'll do some of the higher fells later in the year.

PS the lakeside path is closed from the car park - warning signs at the car park, but no warning at the other end. We had to climb over a locked gate and walk the last section on the road

:-( indeed. Money talks louder than the interests of the community or the environment.

Hope it's not the thin end of a nasty wedge
