Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

LDPNA might as well just come clean and declare it a giant amusement park as that seems to be their underlying policy. It's sadly becoming an increasingly less attractive place to visit ☹️

Just a quick update regarding the charities question I posted a few weeks back: This morning I sent £200 to the Lake District Calvert Trust on behalf of the Frog Graham Round Club, thank you for the suggestion - it was a perfect fit.

Just saw the CumbriaCrack post on Facebook about it. Seems that many of the comments are very anti FriendsotLD and are all for having this sort of attraction - going on about jobs etc.

doesn't make sense to me, so many businesses are struggling as there aren't enough people who can both afford to live locally and take jobs in hospitality as it is.
If there is such a need for jobs, why is every hotel chain advertising for staff?

Couldn't work out if the person who was asking for a ski lift up Skiddaw (or was it Scafell?) and a bike track down was serious or not - but this does feel like the thin end of a wedge.

Its disappointing enough that the campsites are 'all' developing and turning more to glamping (Burns, looking at you, can't afford you any more :( ) and the pubs are all being bought out by chains.

Need some Starbucks, Greggs, McDonalds on the mountain tops too!

ff's succinct post sums it up quite well. It ain't a theme park. You can stick a zip slide anywhere in the country where it doesn't kill what wilderness (not the LD fits this) we do have.

In principle, I haven't got an issue with a zip line across or inside an old quarry, even in the LD. But there are far more suitable quarries in the LD than the Elterwater one, with much better access. But they're probably not owned by Burlington...

Skelwith Bridge and the surrounding roads will be a bit of traffic nightmare. Asking people to park at Brockhole to catch a shuttle bus just forces more traffic in and around Windermere & Ambleside.

Beautiful weekend to be up there. Heading up to Langdale tomorrow for 3 nights. Have a route in mind to get 3 or 4 previous ones that I haven’t logged before, plus 3 genuine new ones done.
