Thanks phal. For the time being I've simply downloaded the Met Office app. I actually think the MWIS site is very similar information to the app I had long before my old phone no longer updated, but I think it coincided with whatever app it was being discontinued. MWIS does have an android app and not a iOS app. I'm wondering if it's possibly the same I did use before. I'm not sure it has as many areas on but it has the main ones I'd want anyway and the info is spot on. Thanks jacdaw. |

Skiddaw yesterday evening was beautiful, although obviously windy and cold as always! Ally-C Going up from Latrigg car park gets you straight into the ascent. It's a bit of a slog on a really good path to the summit, but the views across Derwentwater distract you. It's worth a detour to Little Man and Lower Man but I tend to do that on the way back down. |

Some recommended easy listening for people based in the Lakes. lakedistrictradio.org (I'm somewhat biased because one of my friends has the daily 9am-12pm slot.) |

I did have an MWIS app on my iPhone but when I got a new one it wouldn't download as it was no longer in the app store. |

Both?! Park at Latrigg car park, up Skiddaw, across to Mungrisdale and up Blencathra and down Blease Fell. 12 mile circular walk. Did a loop including Blencathra and Mungrisdale Common last Sunday, it was unsuprisingly very wet underfoot!! |

That also makes me think it was that one. When I used it before it wouldn't update, the app was dead handy even if my needs to use it weren't so regular. I've got the page open on my phone instead now. |

I've been in the Lakes a couple of times over the last 3 weeks. The 1st trip was during the on-going deluge so we didn't do too much but the rain did mean that places like Aira Force were spectacular. Spent some time in Martindale. Gosh, it's so lovely there. A few manageable tops, great views, relative peace and red squirrels Then stayed in Grasmere the last few days. I do love it there out of high season. Did some nice walking straight from the base with a friend who hadn't really been in the Lakes before. He walks quite a bit in SE England but was completely caught out by how much longer it takes when in the fells. That meant for a descent in to Easdale Tarn around 7:30 pm on Saturday - I was surprised by the number of tents pitched up there on the tarnshore. Is it even really allowed to do that? 1st time on High Raise for me. Wow - how incredibly placed is that top? Is there a more complete view of all Lakeland tops anywhere else? And the view from Blea Rigg over the Langdales is incredible (particularly in the lengthening shadows, LOL). And somehow I'd never been on the Eastern side of the Fairfield Horseshoe before. Didn't do any pre-reading and came upon the descent of the rock step on Low Pike with complete surprise. That was fun for a 50+ midget!! |

Windsor Wool That sounds like a lovely few days. The weekend felt like the beginning of Spring. On the camping around Easedale Tarn. Without getting into the pros and cons of wild camping, that seems to be a very popular spot, I guess due to the proximity to Grasmere. We went up on a snowy Wednesday evening in December and even then there were a couple of tents set up there! |

We’ve just hit back from a weekend in Langdale. A bit cold at times, but lovely and spring like. Were a bit limited in hill time due to aging dogs so are splitting our walking and running to both get time out in the hills and on trails. I went up Lingmoor for the first time in about 7 years, then Side Pike. Mostly had the place to myself. Can still recommend Force Cafe. |
