Does anyone have a favourite Lake District Charity? I have a sum of money that I'd like to donate and am wondering how to make best use of it. Suggestions welcome.

The Brathay Trust and the Lakes Calvert Trust both do good work.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have donated to Keswick MRT and the air ambulance in the past, so I think on this occasion the Calvert Trust is looking good.

As an aside - my mate has a very interesting google tracker showing him travelling from south Lakes to Carlisle hospital on the air ambulance, just after he'd had a cardiac arrest - about 50miles in 20minutes. Luckily, he was home after a few days to show it off
