Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I made almond cake yesterday. I've never made a Christmas cake...though I love them. Maybe next year.

OH made ours early November and has been feeding it brandy once or twice a week since. The marzipan etc goes on tonight. It has big cherries in too which is especially for me. A way to a man's heart etc...

My mother used to make Christmas cake in September and feed it rum monthly...it was quite pungent/tasty/moist by Christmas time... A Jamaican friend of mine's mother used to make Christmas cake so well laced my friend said you needed an age of majority card to consume it... ;) (proof of age to drink in Ontario - 19).

We usually had just a simple glaze on the top, perhaps studded with pecans and cherries.

That’s a fine looking cake, DT, love the little sheep :-)
I had a moment of panic reading all these cake posts as I forgot to do one...then I remembered that GimmeMedals is visiting and offered to make the cake. She’s a bit of an expert, her cakes are always delicious and I’m now looking forward to a slice for supper on Christmas Day.
