MM, thanks for the info, that's cleared the "non races" up now. I was a bit confused initially as although I've only done two races, there are 10 events on ZP for me. I am tall and I also used to be a lot heavier than I am now (i.e., 5st heavier) and my nickname has stuck in the real world Currently 77kg although that does fluctuate slightly but my weight and height are accurate in Zwift.
Chrisull, if you've not yet done Stage 7 definitely choose the mountain bike as you'll be a lot quicker over all, even though on part of the tarmac lead in you may be slower.

It's not that easy to find on the website but the A/B threshold for mixed/men is both 4.0W/kg *and* 250W, with both these numbers calculated as average of best three performances for 95% of 20 min max power in the last 90 days. ie you need to be doing both 4.21W/kg and also 264W for your best three 20 mins. B/C is 3.2 and 200W and I think (CBA checking) the absolute number is 150W for C/D. If you click on the little info button where your cat is indicated you can see how your personal score was calculated and work out how close you are...
The absolute values apply to mixed/men categories but there is nothing similar for women which seems a bit of an anomaly and makes it hard for young girls to compete meaningfully in womens' events as they are up against adults of twice their size and strength.
I've heard it said that only a small minority of zwifters race and that's why zwift haven't worked harder at making it a better racing platform. i wonder if the popularity of the ZRL may help with this...

In terms of weight loss, it's probably something where "it doesn't get easier you just get faster" applies. The slope is still the same gradient and you can't "feel" the impact of gravity in the same way as you do on the road, but you go faster up it for the same power.
My ZP category is skewed by my 3 counting events being 2 x 100k and one recovery ride. Strangely the one race I did was categorised as a workout and doesn't count.

No, there isn't an absolute power threshold for womens categories - and the jump from B to A comes at 3.7 I think.

I was 46th , cruised round at3wkg and didn't contest the climb:-)
The racing thing is strange as huge numbers race but in the grand scheme of things not so much.
Lockdown and pro teams engaging has changed a lot of it .

Meanwhile, back in the land of mere mortals I did Purple Unicorn this morning. Flipping heck it was hard, a considerable puddle [of sweat] on the garage floor. Managed an average of 175w, touching 4.4w/kg in the hard efforts and 300w in the final sprint. Fooked.

First time doing a training session as part of a meet-up with a friend, it did make a difference hating her avatar as she cruised by.
