Fun session tonight with a few new exercises which we're likely to be doing in the next phase of training:
Push Press - squat down and then drive arms up at the same time legs straighten. 20 kg bar
Push Split Press- From standing into split jump whilst driving arms up. 20kg bar
Jump Squat with 20kg bar
One leg balance like a yoga warrior 3 (T Shape), 20kg bar held away from body
Hops with 20kg bar....I swapped this one for lunges but will persevere.

Well it was fun at the time but I have a feeling I will be sore tomorrow in glutes, hamstrings, quads....actually most of my body :-)

Blimey I bet the warrior move is hard I struggle with that pose without weight!

I did a full session of just deadlifts today. Can't believe how much I am enjoying lifting!

I'm still doing my little routine of curls, narrow presses and wide presses. Not making noticeable improvements in how much I can lift, but I don't really expect to.

I've been remiss about adding fingerboard work and pull-ups, which would be of much more use to me.

No weights for 2 weeks for me but heading into gym tonight - not back to deadlifts yet but hoping if my readings ok at cardiology clinic I can start back after 6 months. Really miss my weight training but hoping I can spend more time on it now I won't be training for races.

Good to hear of others finding the deadlift love :)

Imtried a pull up today.... Ahem! It was really just me hanging there pulling a face. Work in progress 😂
My PT also let me have a blast with a "slam ball" session. Sheesh! I thought my cardio wasn't too bad until I did this! Felt like a "fun way to die" 😱😂

Haven't lifted for 4 weeks as had the Midlands and National road relays. Was supposed to go back today but still at work, hopefully will be back on Thursday. Need to remember to start back light.

Previously I've kept lifting through race season apart from stopping when I have a few races in succession. This year I might change it up, and the one thing I did inbetween my races when I felt a little flat but didn't want to sprint was squat jumps with 20 kg total weight to give the legs a little workout and springiness boost without the deadening of a full session. Did the job and races went well.

I'll upload a pic of the table from Magness's book that I'm using as my guide although still haven't thought through the whole plan yet and I'll still lift occasionally as I think I'll get flat with no lifting at all.

Did some back squats before kettlebells class last night - did 3 x 5 of 35kg, 40kg & 45kg. Have asked PT to check my form on Thursday again. Sweated majorly during kettlbells class afterwards! Might do some deadlifts at home tomorrow if I can find everything/get space in the garage!
