My Krups burr grinder was £40 and is great. Nice even grind and can do small portions. I do enough for 3 cups which is enough for daughter and me to get us to lunchtime.

I had the first coffee not made by myself since the first week of September 2020!
It was in a paper cup but very good! I asked for a "goccia". This is a Triestine kind of thing: double espresso with a drop (goccia) of milk. It was very very good. As was the rhubarb pastry, but that is for another thread...
Even better: I had company: bumped into a friend so we had a coffee together, on a wall, in the sun.

Also a first since September!!! Gosh, I miss seeing friends... I live alone, so not been allowed since coming back from a quick dash to NL to see my sister. Two week quarantine on my return, straight into strict tiers, lockdown, tiers, lockdown... Meh!

My BIL and his wife live in Trieste. As usual though, the originators of the drink aren't necessarily the experts. ;) We have our own espresso expert in Cardiff!

I had great fun swanning around Trieste, visiting all the coffee houses. I would have mine at the counter, to talk with and watch the barista and the marvellous coffee machines. I took photos 😊

I just opened the kilo of fair trade beans I bought from the Jumbo in September. Just opening the bag! Swoon! Only disadvantage of buying a kilo at a time: opening the bag happens much less frequently!

I also bought 900 grams of organic Macchu Picchu beans from Waitrose, on offer at £9 worth a punt. Anyone tried those?

Which beans Hanneke? I need to go to Jumbo later and coffee is on the shopping list.

I think these represent excellent value for the quality of the bean/coffee...

But I like dark, chocolatey. I don't like light and citrussy...
