Two that I've enjoyed are; Slipless in Settle by Harry Pearson - the author spends a season visiting northern league grounds to watch their Saturday games and just records his experience. But many of those clubs had all time greats playing for them in the past so he covers that history as well. What was Wrong with that then, Umps? by Matthew Stevenson - the diary of a league umpire covering two seasons, his experience of working with fellow umpires, dealing with awkward players, making marginal decisions, varying facilities etc |

He's done 1, if not 2, similar books about football in the northern, The Far Corner, being one I've read during the 90s, early 00s and thoroughly enjoyed, but I think he did a sequel too. Might have to try Slipless in Settle. |

(I'm guessing it's the Wombat service) If you like bat servicing vids, I recommend this bloke: instagram.com Very satisfying to watch. I wish I'd seen the vids before getting rid of my broken Dynadrive |

Another vote for penquins stopped play. Rain Men is great, followed by Zimmermen, in that order. Marcus Berkman. For stats and general in depth stuff about bowling and batting, hitting against the spin. Very good on leggies. Apologies Rajan's twirlers. Gideon Haigh, Mystery Spinner. |
