Holyrood is a recommendation from our family. So often parkruns seem to start downhill so the end is a struggle. With a solid mile of downhill at the end to fly down my wife was in her element!!

I did much better than I thought I would after being stuck between cruising with my nephew who we joined us as he lives in Edinburgh or trying to hang with my 16yo. I ended up passing the 16yo after he went out a bit hard on the climbing mile. Great venue for a parkrun with some fabulous views.

In days of yore the Edinburgh marathon included the holyrood parkrun which was pretty cruel and thankfully before my days of marathon ing

I’m off to do Isle of Wight parkrun this weekend.

One observation is that the location of the event on the UK events map (below)…


…. is different to the location on the event page (below), and it is the event page that is correct. Of course, when I booked our campsite, I based it on the location shown on the image above, which in hindsight was stupid on my part!


I imagine the event team know about this already as it’s a well established event, but is it worth me dropping them a line or not bother?

I believe the IoW parkrun roams semi-randomly at several locations around the island.

yep, as Fizz says, they have run the event in over 10 different locations I believe. Just look at FB for the location this week or drop them an email to confirm. When I've done it (when on holiday) it was in Appleby.

When I did Medina, a few years back, Medina was at the location of the Isle of Wight festival and the course had been trashed with car parking on it in the wet, so it was at Ryde. That turned out to be a really nice course, partly in a little park and part of the sea front.

Me too! plus, I did enjoy parkrun-by-hovercraft!
