Dear Facebook, could you please confirm to me that anxiety is to 2017 what introversion was to 2016? And then accept that I've got the message and stop spamming my timeline with advice on how to tread on eggshells around people who might be anxious, or I'll need irritation to be the emotional theme of 2018 and I'll need it to start 10 months in advance.

[I thought it was 'mindfulness'? I'm getting pissed at the intolerance of some 'mindfulness practitioners'.]

[I think "mindfulness" may have been 2015 or even 2014. When I went off my rocker in mid-2015, people who know me made a point of telling me that they weren't going to point me in the direction of mindfulness apps and courses in case I summoned up the energy to seek them out and kill them.]

[I bloody hate that Headspace app that everyone raves about and think 'Andy' is an annoying twat. I hope I didn't suggest anything like that to you V'rap? I had a discount for it when I volunteered for Anxiety UK (who sacked me!)]

[I think Anxiety might have been *the thing* in 2013 but I know that there are rumblings to get it accepted as a form of mental illness* for a good while, so this year could be anxiety I guess.

* In some cases it is, or does lead to it. I've been nuts and people still wonder about and question my relationship with reality, 'bonkers' can be a nice place for a short vacation but I'm glad I don't live there.]

[I thought anxiety had been accepted as a form of mental illness since mental illness first became accepted as A Thing. It was certainly in the DSM-whatever and ICD when I was at medical school, and that wasn't this century. It's bloody serious and disabling and doesn't need to be associated with a load of snowflakey-cartooney social media spam.]

[Poor use of words by me :-( . Anxiety can be debilitating and a life-long battle but there's almost a *thing* at the moment where it's almost a fashionable thing to be diagnosed with *something*. A measure of anxiety and/or stress can be useful and an excess can harmful ~ but there are a few out there who want any level of anxiety or stress classed as a mental health issue]

[jennywren, glad I'm not the only person who found Headspace Andy an annoying twat. Was recommended the app, tried it for about a week before I realised a) mindfulness doesn't work for me and b) listening to that smug annoying fucker was actually making me more stressed and angry!]
