I haven't tried that, no (I'd also be interested to know if that's any good). But if you're looking for good grip I'd definitely recommend Jade Yoga Harmony.

I've used yogamatters.com for equipment in the past - it was many years ago but that's mostly because everything I bought (mat, belt, blocks, bolster, eyebags) has lasted forever :-)

I've got a traditional Indian cotton rug style yoga mat but I don't get on with it - it makes a better rug than a yoga mat! The theory is that it gets more grippy as you get a bit more sweaty but I'm not a big sweater...

Thanks FR and KS, I'll take a look at those. The fact that everything you've bought has lasted forever is a pretty good recommendation in itself.

It sounds like it might be best to avoid a cotton one. I practise outdoors a lot, so will probably struggle to get sweaty enough to avoid skating around most of the time!

Quick tree video - excuse the carnage and the outfit but it was 5am

(This is the worse of my 2 legs)

I have a longer video as holds were 60-90 seconds but a snap shot seemed sufficient to show progress

today I learned that mat must not be left unattended for more than 10 secs as I appear to have kitten related holes/scratch marks

I also learnt that Ozzy thinks hair is fair game, toes are to chew and savasna is to give him a climbing frame
