Yes HOD see the video Chris posted.

@Chrisull will be interesting to see how you get on with them. Presumably you're training in these shoes if you've worn out you your previous pair.

I tried the Streakfly for an easy run today after my session on Saturday and 10 miles yesterday. If you want your legs and feet to work but be protected by the cushioning then they work well. That's not what I needed today though 🤣. My daily trainer is the Altra Rivera 2 so it's not like I run in something that's built up but a bit more firmness Vs the super soft Streakfly is much better for easy runs for me.

Hills of Death (HOD)
Can’t remember if people have given their ‘score’ for versions of VF and AF

MINE are AF 9/10 only version 1 tried

VF 1 8/10, VF 2 7.5/10, VF 3 only tried in one race jury out but looking around 7/10

SPR - yeah am training in them, need something on my arthritic knee when I'm purely on roads to give me a boost and also be able to train with people faster than me and still be in my comfort zone. Racing still feels a long way away since the injury. Maybe a park run first.

I wonder about the plate and the harshness for daily runs in a lower stack shoe but seems to be working for you.

I doubled today and confirmed my feelings in regards to the Streakfly for easy run and I did the evening run in the Rivera 2. I was also reminded that the softness of the Streakfly meant I almost rolled my ankle for the first time in ages by a mild reaction to that. A bit faster this evening (2 mins for 4.6 miles) and felt better but beats per mile similar (higher this evening). Pinch of salt but Garmin suggests the morning run took 11 out of my body battery Vs 9 for the evening run.

This video popped up for me and explains why the softer than usual cushioning with no stiffening agent felt like harder work:

Interspersing scores HOD, are those based on feel or performances?

I haven't tried the VF3 but I prefer the VF2 over the AF1 and the results suggest the same too. Sounds the the VF3 is just a little disappointing?

I've given some used Adios pro 3's a go and so far I'm not a fan. Seem far too mushy for my liking

The softer shoes (which I had one just one end of its life) gave lateral movement and instability which was absolute kryptonite for the knee.

Instability is part of why I've avoided full stack stuff especially the VFs which were tempting given the performance benefits (for me lower leg issues are the concern). They also have a bit of arch which my fairly flat feet don't agree with.

I think the Pebax on the Streakfly needed to be tuned to be firmer if they wanted it to be true race shoe with no plate.

I'm actually looking at the Dragonfly 2 as they're supposed to be more stable and although I've not had issues in the original Dragonfly (well other than initial training run but that was due to laces coming undone and allowing more movement than normal), the Dragonfly XC felt better on initial wearing due to it being a little wider and stable

Chris's comment re the Pro 3 reminded me of this study on the Evo 1. I'm amazed with the weight differential that the Evo 1 isn't always close. I expect the midsole is quite soft here given the weight and production process.

Also talking about soft, seen this for the Saucony Endorphin Elite 2.

My ankles are squirming at that Saucony Endorphin Elite 2 video, but I hope the implication is that the price of the current Endorphin Elite will drop going into this autumn.

These Sauconys look a nightmare. If they ran like that, I'd snap an ankle.

On the not-exactly-supershoes line, I had (mentioned way way back) a pair of NB Fuelcell Propel V2. Just the foam, no plate. They've worn much better than expected (the sole rubber looked minimal, but has proved a lot more resistant than many other shoes) although the uppers are going. Of course, I cant buy another pair, they are up to (just launched) V5 now.

There was a big change between V3 and V4, when a TPU plate was put in. V4 now marked down to £60/£72 in some colours on the NB site and I'm wondering if I should take a punt, even though they're not really the same shoe. Anyone tried them? They do seem a bit heavy though (quoted 302g).
