Yup, I’m a buyer for that line of thought solo i.e. running years = “tread on the tyres” rather than earth years = “age of the vehicle”.

Good way of putting it

. Ran my first marathon at age 54, 3:27; pb at 57, 3:12; got within 13 secs of that at 61. Still dreaming😎

That is inspiring, if I could be that good at running still, at 60 ish, I would be very grateful.

I try and aim for 40-60 miles a week depending on work etc. I like to get a long run 15+ miles, a tempo run and a hill/interval session in each week then see what i can add on.

Wow that is inspiring and don't stop dreaming while the possibility is there.!

I am 60 in a couple of months time and have run on and off for over 20 years. Long periods of no racing just jogging for fitness. A couple of years ago I became interested in training and racing again and decided to try and get a GFA for when I was sixty. Box ticked but now I am trying to make the most of my good health and see what I can achieve.

That’s what’s it all about in the long run for me solo. I would like to be a runner for as long as possible. Not just now.
I’ve been on it for a while too, but only to this extent for the last 3 years or so. That won’t be the case for that many years more :)

I am averaging around 55. I do a couple of big weeks then have quite a dramatic cut back week.i peaked at 80 whilst on holiday but that was due to beautiful weather and not working.

Definitely more to come sub 3 for sure

thanks, but I’m being humble about this, nothing is a sure thing in marathoning.

I have three more tries this year.
Maybe I will make it, maybe not. But i will give it a go :)

I averaged just over 65 mpw all of 2013 Hills of Death (HOD)

40+—>60+ during my 18 week marathon training blocks; 30+ otherwise.
