Thanks both. A week on and still hobbling unfortunately. I think it is easing, either that or I am just getting used to it.

Can I be added to then sidebar for Chicago please? This is a rollover from 2020. I’ve not been fully committed from either a training or logistics perspective but managed a few decent long runs and decided to book flights just this week. Not a PB attempt but 3:15 a reasonable target.

Got you added now Rossco Peeko, enjoy Chicago and the rest of the training. Mine was carried over from 2020 too but I've just made the decision today to withdraw - tried running today and it was not to be. Thankfully most of our plans are refundable or adjustable. |

Was thinking about New York or something again as a treat in future. Though I haven't run over 15 miles for a couple of years! Would have to do a wee bit of training I would think. I've finally caved in and got some of the cheat shoes. I'm not expecting ever to trouble even my own modest PBs again. But a chat after parkrun today with another couple of V50s convinced me that they also avoid a bit of injury risk and just generally seem to ease the harder, faster road running. So I'll give them a go. Eye watering cost though! Even with the discounts. ![]() |

Hi all, Just thought I'd give a bit of an update since my last posts. Last weekend was my one and only 20 miler with 5 x 2 miles MP efforts. The first 15 miles / 4 MP sets felt pretty good but the last 5 miles were a slog. This was partly down to the fact the road I was running on had lots of pedestrian crossings so there was a lot of stop-starting. Today was the Cheshire Half Marathon and the aim was to treat it as if it were the big day in terms of breakfast, mid-race fuelling, and pacing. I was a bit nervous coming into the race as it had been a long week of running but everything ended up going really well. I was aiming for a 1:31:20 and ended up finishing in 1:30:25. My pacing was relatively consistent throughout the race, there were no gel issues, and whilst I sped up a bit towards the end as there was a group of us running at roughly the same speed, I felt in control and pretty strong at the end. I'm still apprehensive about the overall marathon goal I've set myself, but it was a nice confidence booster and I can go into my taper in a positive frame of mind. |

Good running, sounds like a sensible and rewarding day out at the Half. Good confidence builder for race day!
