I’ve not gone further than 15 miles so far but am up to 57 miles this week.

A bit disappointed with 41:09 in a 10k today where I ran out of steam in the last quarter having felt great until it suddenly became hard work.

7 weeks to Manchester and I am happy with the volume. Pretty pleased with mental toughness too today as I had plenty of options to cut the run short and head home which I chose not to take.

I'd bite your hand off for 41:09 Baz! Only a few seconds off where you want to be in truth.

Wow! 41:09 is incredible, well done! Well done Curly too, great to see your comeback 💪

10k race for me too today around a windy exposed Draycote Water. A really tough final mile but it wasn't actually too bad otherwise. Very pleased with 42.43, my best 10k for years and also saw me get 3rd lady - overtook the 3rd about 6k in I think and dug in to hold it. Most pleasing was I finished almost a minute quicker than the identical race last august when I wore the same shoes and conditions were better then.

On track for Manchester as things stand - hoping I can be closer to 3:20 than 3:30 if things carry on. Will be piling the miles in this week before we go to UAE for a week on holiday which will inevitably be reduced mileage - not ideal timing but a week in the sun and quality family time far outweighs a few minutes marathon time in my priority list, so will happily take the hit. I might shrink my taper a bit depending on how the next few weeks pan out.

Great work Clare. Congrats on the prize too 😎🏆👍

I keep seeing you putting in lots of miles so no reason to not adjust target if training going well.

UAE yikes that's adventurous, I assume all running will be treadmill while away?

Thanks! Hoping to get outside. First few days in Dubai should be OK- I've lookd on strava and there's a nice boardwalk around the circuit of the Palm on which we are staying, then Abu Dhabi where a friend out there runs. Might have to cover up more than I usually would in warm weather. Hotels do have gyms though so that's an option if it doesn't feel safe or appropriate.

tempo Friday (late), run Sat, LR Sun. Never going to be easy lark - you did well to just get it done at all. Very nice work.

Good 10ks there all. Tough conditions for racing over this weekend. 💪🏻

Clare - I stayed at the Sofitel on the Palm and ran every day I was there. Obviously, the cultural expectations are greater for women but I don’t think you’ll have any issues getting out, particularly in the mornings when it’s quiet. Weather looks like it’s gonna be lovely for running 7-9 am too. Bit jealous!

Big sesh for me yesterday in the wind. Really pleased to have got through the majority of this block ahead of the Wokingham HM on 27th Feb. Quite a few races booked in now. Such a novelty!

Yep, I always seem to stack the weekends with running. Should have recovery ran yesterday though really, think I'd have benefitted today.

Great podium Clare!

Wrexham half next weekend which coincides with P&D prescribing 15 with 12 at MP so I'll either stick to the plan if the weather isn't great or maybe see how close to 90 mins I can get. And eat lots of celery rather than cakes and crackers.

Nice running and racing everyone. I've got a few options for shorter races over the coming months, I just have to enter and commit to racing. I've fell into a 'I'll just do training miles' since lockdown began.

I may have to do a 10k TT to see what shape I'm in but I reckon I could duck under 40 if I'm willing to hurt!

Alloa Half is still taking entries Stoosh, if you want to show Baz and I how an M40 can beat us M50s without having done any speedwork ;-)

I saw Malta marathon, which is in less than 3 weeks, has been cancelled. Apparently there are issues with the route (you can sense the frustration of the organisers on that one!), plus Covid reasons.
15/Feb: The Malta Marathon Organising Committee regrets to announce that the 2022 Malta Marathon is cancelled. Following today's meeting, Transport Malta reiterated that the Malta Marathon must adopt the TM proposed route in lieu of the Malta Marathon route, the same route that has been authorised by the same authority for many years, including the last edition. Whilst we fully respect Transport Malta's authority, we cannot adopt a route that has been declared as unacceptable by Mater Dei's Emergency Department, the Malta Red Cross and the Malta Traffic Police due to safety concerns. Due to time constraints, the MMOC once again asked TM to approve its route for a last time and undertook to discuss a new route for subsequent years. The MMOC also stated that it would start the event 1 hour earlier to mitigate any traffic concerns that TM may have. This request was rejected. The main objection to the MMOC route was the closure of arterial roads to traffic after 1030. In view of this, the MMOC today proposed a way of having all participants out of the arterial routes by 1030 whilst still using the MMOC route. However, this was also refused. Another factor forcing the cancellation of the Malta Marathon is the Mandatory Standard for mass sports events (Covid), which although updated last Friday, still precludes the Malta Marathon from being held. As already stated, application and transport fees paid to the MMOC will be refunded in due course and in the shortest time possible.

(I have done this event once, and went back the year after to give it another go, but it was cancelled the night before due to very, very bad weather. Frustrating of course, but it was the right decision then.)
