Thanks for the warm welcome. I think I will learn a great deal from this forum. 2 weeks ago I was knackered and desperate for the taper but after an easier week I now just want to run more again. However I will fight the urge and stick to the plan.

Here have a tapir for your tapir-madness guys!
I love the taper. Unfortunately I haven't trained enough to deserve one, so I'd better do another run or two before I sit about for next 3 weeks! G

Hats off to you for running a PB in London last year MKH, there’s not many that can say that. I for one was about 20 minutes behind you
Proper taper for me now after the road relays on Saturday. Love that event, 5 and a bit hilly kms against the cream of the midlands running scene. Which this year included 800m GB international Elliot Giles turning out for his club and almost getting them the win. If he can muster a sub-15 clocking round there at almost 8 times his preferred race distance, then hopefully I can do the same and get a respectable result at Rotterdam!

The 30/30 workout is spot on for a sharpener Baz, I do one in the week before most of my races (usually on the Thursday lunch).
Never feel them in my legs the day after and you get to spend 20+ minutes at/around/above threshold (if you do 20 of them). Run them quick though or you won't get the benefit, I think in the spiel for them it says to run them at your 2 mile pace (so quicker than 5k pace). I run mine fast but relaxed, you don't want to be forcing the pace toward the end of the 30 seconds, and with your endurance I doubt you would be.
A lovely workout that gets the lungs and heart going but doesn't trash the legs.

@MoKenHalle - From what you've put I've no doubt you'll run sub 3:15, I'd say you could probably go comfortably sub-3:10, but if your MP miles in P&D have been at 3:15 pace you should prob stick with that!

@Will_Uyuni Thanks, 5k relay race sounds fun not tried one of those. Good luck in Rotterdam I've heard its a fast course so hopefully you will smash a pb out.

Have we really only got Jovi in for London for sub 3:15? There used to be about 10 of us in, though maybe it's Paul's strict criterion of sub 3:15 but not sub 3, ruling out Bazo and some other sub 3:15 post grads?
Had 4 days off with visiting family and grandson duties (gonna take him parkrunning in a buggy soon!) so fitted in a wee run instead of gym last night. Might do some extra miles during this week and a mid long run at weekend, but not 20, then call that taper after that. Can still do a parkrun and a few intervals and things anyway even during taper. Lol, I cant recall why I am not in sidebar, but I am doing VLM. Whether its a sub 3 or sub 3:15 is still to be decided. This weekend will give me a good pointer. Weather looks to be pretty good for Sunday which is unusual.
I think BR and WW also have places. BR though is maybe just the other side of 3:15 and WW in his magic shoes will be up front with Mo and Eliud.
I realised last night that for the first time since 2011 when my year was a right off and in fact continued through to 2014, but my right hip/groin/adductor has not been bothering me at all. There are still other niggles, but nice that one seems to be gone, for now.

I had better fess up and admit I'm doing London next month. I have just done a half marathon in 1:31:18 so sub 3:15 is unlikely, but I may aim to go out at 1:37:30 pace to half way and see if I can get it. I'll be relying on my experience and determination (/pain threshold) rather than a fantastic training base.
